this past weekend, was AHMAZINGGGG. while bae was away for the weekend (a ski trip that I’ll rage about another time), the bff came up from Philly to catch up. ever since bae moved up & in, I haven’t had a girls weekend. so his weekend away was right on time. keep in mind what I call a weekend, was actually 24 hours.
saturday was non-stop, but it felt like it flew by.
one of my favorite books, and movies is the color purple. so, it was only right to support the musical. i feel like I am the only jennifer hudson supporter in the world, she was another reason I was excited to see TCP musical.
let me tell you, celie, played by cynthia erivo** was OUTSTANDING. that girl sang her freakin heart out. i mean, standing ovation worthy, had me in my chair waving my arm in true church lady fashion.
j hud was an ok shug avery. man, if she had just a little more rhythm, she would be so dope. anyway, she did an ok job. her voice is amazing… as usual, and babygirl is keeping the weight off. CONGRATS, because the struggle is so real!
overall, I enjoyed the play. I was a little upset none of the original songs were performed. can you imagine j hud singing “God is trying to tell you something.” ughhhh, she would have brought the house down.
next, we headed uptown (yikes) to TAO. i’ve been to TAO a million times, but never the uptown location, I’m a downtown girl. normally, it’s always a fun enjoyable experience… tuh. I wasn’t impressed by the uptown location. $17 cocktails were horrible, it took cort and I AN HOUR, to finish one cocktail… blasphemy. hostess’ who stare at their computer screen, when speaking to real people irks my entire soul. and cramped ass seating arrangements while dining is annoying. I mean, when guests next to you are on a romantic date, but ya’ll start chit chattin, and learn all their business.. means I’m too close. but the food was soooo good. the lobster & shrimp roll is a MUST.
after dinner, we headed further uptown to HARLEM… met up with 2 dope chicks, Kelly & Kedra. then crashed a private birthday party at row house, and then back to brooklyn and passed out as soon as we crossed the threshold.
(no pictures, I was too turnt by then)
** as I type this blog post, I am listening to cynthia erivo’s pandora station… and I hate pandora.
